New UNC team feted

Dimapur, September 27 (MExN): The new team of an organization in Manipur, United Naga Council, is appreciated for taking “on the responsibility to uphold and to judiciously implement the people’s decision for the wellbeing of their collective future.”
A note from Frontier Ecology Restoration Network (FERN) Northeast FERN NE extended ‘unstinted support’ and firmly conviction that the new UNC team “will usher in an era of justice, sustainable progress and peace in the Hill areas under the administration of Manipur state.”  The FERN note was appended by Chiitezhiio Ashupralo, convener.
The FERN introduced itself as “a network of conscious individuals from the northeast region which supports the just and proactive non-violent demands of indigenous hill communities to secure their territories, resources and environment.”
The FERN highlighted what it said is the crucial need of the regions’ communities to clearly take serious note of “our past experiences” and act with realistic determination “since today’s dominant ruling class in the region has little or no concern for the hill peoples except for the alienation of tribal land and expropriation of their natural resources besides open embezzlement of fund under the so-called centrally allocated tribal development coffer.”
The NGO also appreciated what it said is the “position of New Delhi leadership for their democratic statesmanship” in venturing out “progressively towards a proactive processes of constructive dialogues and search for creative solutions in the regions unending turmoil.”
