
Kohima prepares for I-day
Kohima, August 9 (DIPR): This year’s Independence Day will be celebrated in the State capital Kohima not as a mundane routine event but with colour and life. In lieu of the oft repeated tribal dances and other usual items a mass drill and musical display by school students and other entertainment programmes would be the attractions of the celebration at the Civil Secretariat Plaza. For the successful celebration of the Independence Day, preparations are on in the State capital. Facelift of Kohima town is being carried out and for the ceremonial parade consisting of 10 Para Military, Police, NCC, Bharat Scouts and Guides contingents and 8 school contingents are practicing in full swing.
DPDB Kohima to approve LADP schemes
Kohima, August 9 (DIPR): In view of Independence Day Celebration, the monthly meeting of Kohima District Planning and Developmental Board (DPDB) shall be held on August 16 (Tuesday) 2011 at 12:30 pm in the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima. The Board shall finalize the schemes of LADP for the year 2011–12. All elected members of Kohima District have been requested to submit the schemes as per guide lines issued by the Government and submit to the office of ADC Planning, Kohima at the earliest for necessary setting and compilation. The Board will also felicitate officers of certain departments for rendering meritorious services towards the society.
DYCC Wokha conducts social work
Dimapur, August 9 (MExN): In commemoration of Independence Day, the District Youth Congress along with PCC members, DCC, AYC, and ACC Wokha conducted a social work cum tree plantation on Saturday at Wokha Mount Tiyi College campus. ET Ezung, first DYC president Wokha attended the programme as the guest of honour. Others who attended the programme were Mhao, senior congress, party leader, DCC president Zanben Jungio PCC secretary, Yanthungo Kikon and all presidents from respective constituency. Altogether 85 youths participated in the event. This was stated in a press release issued by Wokha DYC president Mhondamo Shitiri.

ICDS project held at Peren
Kohima, August 9 (MExN): A gathering programme was held at ICDS project, Peren on 4 August for the first time under the chairmanship of Shinyao Konyak, CDPO, ICDS Project Peren. Konyak addressed the Anganwadi workers, helpers for their support and cooperation while serving the project together. He encouraged them to give their best in serving the people especially age group of 0-6 years and pregnant mothers. CDPO also distributed Anganwadi workers, helper’s uniforms, batch and food staff to 44 present centres and assisted by supervisors Paunning Elunglung and Vekhayi Ruho.
Rotomi declared as model vill
Zunheboto, August 9 (DIPR): The monthly District Planning and Development Board meeting of Zunheboto District was held on August 8 at DC’s Conference Hall under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner Zunheboto & Vice Chairman Zunheboto DPDB, T. Kiheto. At the out set, the chairman welcomed the new member, Peter Lichamo, ADC Pughoboto. The Urban Development Officer, Solesül gave the report on the departmental activities in the district. As discussed in the last DPDB meeting, the House approved Rotomi Village as model village and also approved LADF. DC Zunheboto, T. Kiheto reminded all the Heads of Offices in the district to be present on the occasion of the forth-coming Independence Day celebration.

Dimapur, August 9 (MExN): A peace adventure with the theme ‘Enjoy, Love and Protect Nature’ was organized by peace channel members at Kiphire in which members from El-Beth School, Holy Cross School, Trinity School and Good Shepherd School, Kiphire along with student leaders and teacher coordinators participated. A press note issued by Peace Channel Desk stated that the programme helped the participants to get more acquainted with the nature and inculcate the spirit of love and respect for it, the participants completed the 14 kilometer track starting from Singrep village which calumniated at Kiphire Town with competitions and entertainment activity including extempore speech, peace games and group activities.

ATMA Peren set for mega sales on I-Day
DIMAPUR, AUGUST 9 (MExN): Apart from the continuous knowledge dissemination of agriculture technology to the farmers in the district, the department of Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Peren will be organizing a mega exhibition-cum-sales on the 15th of August at Peren local ground, a press note from the Dy. Director of ATMA, Kumui Nring has informed.
The eventful day which marks India’s 64th independence will also witness an array of tools and implements for agricultural purposes to be demonstrated by representatives from diverse Self Help Groups from different blocks of Peren district. Agricultural machineries and implements, Horticultural products, Agricultural products, Veterinary products, Aloe Vera products and floricultural items will be made available at reasonable prices, it stated. The department has requested farmers, public leaders, government officials and the public to be present on the rare event.

ICAR felicitates recipient of JRAKP
Dimapur, August 9 (MExN): ICAR Research Complex based at Jharnapani has felicitated Alemla Theriah in a brief function organised by the centre on August 6 for her achievement by winning the most prestigious Jagjivan Ram Abhinav Kisan Puruskar, 2010 from ICAR, New Delhi.
In his welcome address Dr. Bidyut C. Deka, Joint Director, ICAR Complex, Jhrnapani appreciated Alemla for bringing such a laurel to the state of Nagaland in particular and Northeast India in general. Dr. P.G. Chengappa, Ex-Vice-Chancellor, UAS, Bangalore and Chairman, QRT Review team congratulated Alemla for her achievement and requested the farmers of the state to follow her footprints to earn their livelihood in a more dignified way, stated the Joint Director of ICAR , Bidyut C. Deka in a press note.
The note stated that the meeting was also attended by Dr. C. Rajkhowa, Director, NRC on Mithun, Dr. A.K. Gogoi, Zonal Project Director, Zone-III, Barapani, Shillong besides half a dozen other dignitaries from ICAR head quarter.

Alemla received this distinguished award for her contribution in the field of farm innovations. Alemla gives a new dimension to enhance the farm income by utilising the resources available in the door steps of Naga United Village in 4th Mile of Dimapur, the note added.

TGSUK 17th freshers meet
Kohima, August 9 (MExN): The Tesophenyu Group Students’ Union Kohima held its 17th freshers’ meet on August 6 last at Hotel Japfu with K.T. Thomas, joint director of tourism, as the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Thomas stressed the need for hard work, saying “Nothing can substitute hard work.” He encouraged the students to have a dream and to start working for it and not just dreaming . He further shared his life experiences and hardship he had to undergo to achieve his aim and asked the students to aim high.
The Union president Justin Magh in his presidential address asked the students and parents to take more responsibility in this fast changing world. Senilo Jemu and Henile Jemu were crowned Fresher’s King and Queen respectively.
The programme was enchanted by a melodious special number by Senilo Tep and male voice presented by David Jemu and friend. Speech on behalf of senior was delivered by Er. Ruchuyhunlo Seb while Asha Tep spoke on behalf of freshers. Earlier, welcome address was delivered by Dr. Shasinlo Magh, convenor organizing committee while Adalo Jemu proposed vote of thanks.

Mon DPDB approves LADP Scheme 2011-12
Mon, August 9 (DIPR): The Mon District Planning & Development Board meeting for the month of August was held under the chairmanship of MC Konyak, Minister for Forest, Environment, Ecology & Wild Life and Excise on August 6 at DC’s Conference Hall, Mon.
The meeting started with welcome address by the Deputy Commissioner Mon, Angau I. Thou followed by self introduction by the new administrative officers posted in the district recently. Reviewing the last meeting minutes, the DC urged upon the HODs who have not submitted the departmental proposal/activities for district plan to submit on or before August 8.
Before finalizing the LADP 2011-12, the ADC (Planning) briefed the house about the norms and guidelines of the LADP. He pointed out that, 40% of the scheme is meant for Community Development; 25% for augmentation projects related to employment/income generating scheme; 20% for individual based scheme and 15% for common pool. Basing on the guidelines, the house unanimously approved the LADP Scheme 2011-12 for the 9 (nine) constituencies of the district.
The board also approved and recommended Grant in aid to Manlem School, Leangha village; Langkhoho School, Tangnyu village and Baptist School, Monyakshu Town. The board also recommend the following schools for up gradation and opening of new schools: Eastern School, Mon town and St. Francis Schools, Naginimora was recommended for up gradation, while Care Well School, Naginimora and Little Angel School, Naginimora were approved for opening of new Schools.
Besides these, the house after detail discussions recommended for creation of new DIS office at Tizit Headquarter and creation of new RD block for Honda circle under Tizit sub-division. On the request of the chairman, the Assistant Urban Development Officer, Mon also highlighted the activities of the Urban Development department of Mon.
Pointing out that Mon Civil Hospital lies in the heart of the town causing health hazard and inadequate land for further extension of the hospital, the chairman M.C. Konyak suggested finding out a new location for the district hospital. In this connection the house resolved to constitute a sub-committee to locate ideal land for the hospital.
Minister for School Education & SCERT, Nyeiwang Konyak urged upon the district administration and the NGOs to acquire a suitable land for community toilet before encroachment of the site by the public in the towns. Advisor DUDA, Mr. E.E. Pangteang also urged upon the members to maintain official secrecy and confidentiality to avoid unnecessary queries.
The President Konyak Students Union (KSU) also informed the department concern that the newly upgraded Government higher Secondary Schools of Aboi and Tizit have a shortage of Sociology and Economic Lecturers and requested to posting of Lecturers for the interest of the students. Viewing seriously about the attendance of the members, the DC informed that both the list of the present and absent members would be prepared.
