Maligaon, July 4 (MExN): Indian Railways redefined train journey in the country with introduction of Vistadome coaches which offer a 360-degree view of the journey. These coaches come complete with huge glass windows and roofs for panoramic views of pristine nature. In addition, these vistadome coaches also have state-of-the-art passenger amenities.
The first vistadome services in NFR were introduced in two sections on August 28, 2021, viz., Guwahati- New Haflong and New Jalpaiguri-Alipurduar. These two services were introduced in these routes to promote tourism and cultural heritage of the NE and the North Bengal region, stated a press release issued by Sabyasachi De, Chief Public Relations Officer, NFR.
Introduction of Vistadome highly benefitted the local industries because due to the large tourist foot-fall has created new work opportunities, revenue earnings and also helped in promoting indigenous products in world level. In Dima-Hasao, the introduction of the Guwahati-Haflong Vistadome service gave a boost to the local tourism industry which was in a decline after covid restrictions.
A vast segment of people belonging to various sectors got benefitted economically with more and more tourists coming into the region. Keeping in view, the incomparable benefits, more Vistadome coaches were introduced by NF Railway between Agartala-Jiribam, Guwahati-Naharlagun and recently between New Jalpaiguri- Howrah to meet the increasing demands as well as introducing the unexplored tourism areas of the region. One more train, namely Kulik Express, has also been provided by a Vistadome Coach recently.
