NF Railway celebrates World Breastfeeding Week

Maligaon, August 6 (MExN): In commemoration of World Breastfeeding Week, NF Railway launched a breastfeeding kiosk at the platform no.1 of the Guwahati Railway Station on August 6. The Kiosk was set up by the Rotary Club of Guwahati Icons in collaboration of NFR.

JP Singh, Addl. Divisional Railway Manager, NFR, Guwahati inaugurated the Kiosk in presence of Assamese film actress, Nishita Goswami and other important personalities from railways and members of Rotary Club of Guwahati Icons.

JP Singh praised the effort of Rotary Club of Guwahati Icons which is a new chapter of Rotary International District 3240 in Guwahati and informed that another such kiosk will also be set up in Kamakya Railway station as well in coming days.  Nishita Goswami and Rotarian Dr Partha Pratim Borah also spoke during the occasion. 

 “This will be a great help, as it is convenient and easy to locate breast feeding room in Railway Station” observed by a mother with a new born who arrived at the station to board a train. 

A press release from the NFR Chief Public Relations Officer stated that an awareness programme in connection with the World Breastfeeding Week was held on August 5 last at the NF Railway Central Hospital, Maligaon. Talks on the importance & benefits of breast feeding were delivered by Dr BP Deka, Dr Anuradha Goswami, Dr Apurba Das, Dr Immanuel Tuolor and Dr Sunita Agarwal. Later, a session was held at indoor department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology to educate andsupport breast feeding.
