NF Railway observes Swachhata Pakhwada

Maligaon, October 2 (MExN): In continuation to the nationwide Swachh Bharat Mission, NF Railway launched cleanliness activities in its premises with culmination of the Swachhata Pakhwada on October 23.

The campaign has been launched to sensitise people about observing of proper hygiene, encourage desisting from open defecation and keeping the stations and railway tracks clean. Various activities were organised at railway colonies, work places and station premises to spread up awareness amongst railway employees, their family members and passengers, stated a press release issued by Sabyasachi De, Chief Public Relations Officer, NFR.

During the fortnight-long campaign emphasis were given on Swachh Awareness, Swachh Samwad, Swachh Stations, Swachh Rail Gaadi, Swachh Parisar, Swachh Ahar, Swachh Neer & Swachh Prasadhan. Swachhata Seminar and awareness camps were held at all the five divisions under NFR.

 Nukkad Nataks were organised at various locations to spread up awareness of Swachhata and message of Swachhata Abhijan being played at various stations for awareness of passengers. Regular updates of all the activities and innovative practices on Swachhata have been widely published on official social media platforms of NF Railway.

Marking the occasion of 154th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on October 2, a major Swachhata Abhiyan was undertaken near Guwahati Railway Station led by Addl General Manager of NFR Yatendra Kumar along with senior railway officials and staffs followed by a tree plantation drive involving the local children. Nukkad Natak, floral tribute to Gandhi’s portrait and bhajan programmes were also held at the premises of Guwahati Railway Station. 

To mark the occasion, similar programmes were also organised at platforms, station premises, circulating area of various railway stations, hospital premises etc across five divisions of NF Railway. As a part of the Swachhata Pakhwada, General Manager, NFR Construction Sunil Kumar Jha paid tribute to Gandhiji’s portrait at construction office at Maligaon where senior officials and staffs of construction were present.
