NF Railway Protection Force arrests three in anti-touting drive

Maligaon, September 6 (MExN):  Railway Protection Force (RPF) of the Northeast Frontier Railway has arrested three individuals and seized a total of 44 Passenger Reservation System (PRS) tickets valued at over Rs 1 lakh in three separate operations. The drive aims to ensure the availability of reserved tickets for genuine passengers, an official from NFR said.

The first incident occurred on September 2 in New Jalpaiguri. Based on source information, a joint team of the CIB and the RPF Post conducted a raid at a shop named 'Sitaram Online Service' in Majawali, Jalpaiguri, West Bengal. One tout was arrested, and 02 future PRS tickets worth Rs 830 were recovered.

A case has been registered (No. 1070/2025, dated September 4, 2025) under Section 143 of the Railways Act.

In a second case on September 3, a team of CIB Lumding arrested one tout at the PRS counter in Dimapur. The operation led to the recovery of 02 future PRS tickets worth Rs 3,465. A case was registered (No. 278/2025, dated September 3, 2025) under Section 143 of the Railways Act.

The third incident took place on September 4, when a team from the RPF Post of Dalkhola, acting on a tip, arrested one tout at the PRS counter in Kanki. Officials recovered 07 future PRS tickets worth Rs 11,889.01 and 33 past PRS tickets worth Rs 90,819.46, totaling 40 tickets with a combined value of Rs 1,02,708.47. A case was registered (No. 207/2025, dated September 4, 2025) under Section 143 of the Railways Act.
