NF Railways award 14 staff for exceptional alertness

Maligaon, January 3 (MExN): Fourteen Railway staffs from various divisions of NF Railway, who showed exceptional devotion & alertness, while performing their duties during the month of November & December, 2019 were awarded during a function held at Maligaon on December 31. 

 


The recipients of the award were Gita Devi, Porter/Sonaili; Ashok Hari, Technician/New Jalpaiguri; Ashok Kumar Murmu, driver and Abhishek Kumar, Sr. Asstt. driver of Alipurduar; Vincent Gayari, Sr. Technician/C&W/New Bongaigaon; Janmijay Nath, Track Maintainer and  Sapan Jyoti Baishya, Track Maintainer of Chaygaon; Dipankar Sarkar, Track Maintainer/Goalpara;  RK Burnwal, driver, Rishikesh Meena, Sr. Asstt. driver and K.B. Singh, Sr. Goods Guard of Lumding; Putul Gogoi, driver, J.S.P. Yadav, Asst. driver and Rupak Kumar, Sr. Goods Guard of Mariani.

 


Gita Devi, noticed smoke coming out from a coach of train no. 12506 North East Express while performing duty on November 18, 2019. The train was controlled at Salmari station and defects rectified. Due to her alertness a probable mishap was averted.  Ashok Hari while performing train examination duty on November 20, 2019 detected broken coil spring of a coach in train no. 15631 Barmer - Guwahati Express. The coach was immediately detached from the train and due to his alertness a probable mishap was averted.

 


Ashok Kumar Murmu and Abhishek Kumar while working by train No. 75741 Siliguri - Dhubri DEMU on November 11, 2019 noticed an elephant on railway track between Chalsa and Naksalbari station. They stopped the train by applying emergency brake just near the elephant. Due to their alertness, the life of an elephant was saved and a probable mishap was averted.

 


Vincent Gayari while performing coach examination on November 1, 2019 detected broken coil spring in a coach of train No. 12346 Saraighat Express. The broken coil was rectified and the train was made fit to run. Due to his alertness and sincerity, a probable mishap was averted.

 


Janmijay Nath while performing night patrolling duty on November 28, 2019 between Mirza and Chaygaon detected weld rail fracture. He immediately protected the track. The track was emergently repaired and train no. 15818 Silghat Town - Dhubri Rajya Rani Express passed with restricted speed. Due to his alertness, a probable mishap was averted.

 


Sapan Jyoti Baishya while working as Keyman on November 25, 2019 detected weld failure between Bamunigaon and Boko when train No. 12346 Saraighat Express was approaching that site. He immediately protected the track. The train was stopped and passed after repairing with restricted speed. Due to his alertness, a probable mishap was averted. 

 


Dipankar Sarkar was performing patrolling duty on November 7, 2019 and detected rail fracture between Amjonga and Dudhnoi station at the approach of train No. 13247 Kamakhya - Rajendra Nagar Terminal Capital Express. He immediately stopped the train by showing red hand signal and a probable mishap was thus averted. 

 


R.K. Burnwal, Rishikesh Meena and K.B. Singh were booked on 12th and 13th December, 2019 to work as Up Advanced Pilots for Up passenger specials ex Guwahati to Lumding. They performed their duties cautiously and safely in spite of bad law and order problem in the area due to public agitation.

 


Putul Gogoi, JSP Yadav and Rupak Kumar were booked on December 14, 2019 to work by train No. 15955 Brahmaputra Mail via Dibrugarh - Moranhat as the first train which departed from Dibrugarh. They performed their duties cautiously and safely in spite of bad law and order problem in the area due to public agitation.

 


In recognition of their meritorious service, each of them were awarded with a cash award of Rs. 3,000 along with a certificate issued by the General Manager, NF Railway.
