Guwahati, October 17 (MExN): The double line between Dhupdhara and Bamunigaon stations have been commissioned with the completion of the statutory inspection by the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS)/NF circle Suvomoy Mitra on October 17, informed an official release.
The newly laid second line will be helpful for carrying more freights and passenger traffic through this route, stated the release from the Northeast Frontier Railway’s (NFR) Chief Public Relations Officer, Sabyasachi De.
The Dhupdhara - Bamunigaon section stretching 25.459 kilometre is part of the New Bongaigaon – Kamakhya via Goalpara 176 km double line project.
As per the release, the section included 8 major bridges, 80 minor bridges, 42crossing bodies and absolute block signaling working system.
New Station buildings were constructed at four railway stations - Dhupdhara, Singra, Boko and Bamunigaon, along with one new platform each for better handling of the incoming and outgoing trains, it said.
A total of 42 numbers of new railway quarters were constructed for better accommodation of employees at this designated section.
Speed trial on the section along with through inspection of all bridges, RUB and Signaling systems was done by the CRS, the release said.
With laying of double line infrastructure, movement of trains, (passengers and freights), can be done in both directions without stop-over crossings at stations which will increase the punctuality of trains, it added.
Meanwhile, the CPRO informed that New Bongaigaon – Kamakhya via Goalpara double line project is progressing well and two sections had been commissioned earlier – the 11.35 km section between Mirza–Azara on May 3, 2023 and the 29.71 km section between Dudhnai to Dhupdhara on November 24, 2022.
On completion of the entire section, the North-East connectivity will get a significant boost and far-flung areas would be highly benefited, it added.
