Guwahati, September 3 (MExN):19: The Zonal Disaster Management Plan of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has received ISO 9001:2015 certification, an official release informed today.
ISO 9001 is the internationally recognized Quality Management System (QMS) and benchmark of quality standard.
It was formally announced by Sanjive Roy, General Manager, N.F. Railway at the Conference of the Senior Divisional Safety Officers (Sr.DSO) held at NFR Headquarter at Maligaon on August 29, informed a press release from NFR Chief Public Relations Officer Subhanan Chanda.
MK Agrawal, Principal Chief Safety Officer and other senior officials were also present at conference which also deliberated on other crucial safety issues for smooth train operations, it said.
The Disaster Preparedness of the Railways has undergone drastic changes during the last 14 years since the promulgation of the Disaster Management Act in 2005, the release said, adding that the scope of the preparedness has become wider to include incidences like terrorism, natural calamities etc, besides accidents.
Railway Disaster Management Plans for each zone of Indian Railway were prepared following the suggestion of a High Level Committee in September, 2002 to prepare a plan enumerating the basic work-frame for organizing efficient relief operation in handling a disaster, the release informed.
Following this, NFR had adopted the Zonal Disaster Management Plan in 2005 which is being updated periodically, it added.
