NFR enhanced customer interface and freight operations in July 2025

MALIGAON, AUGUST 27 (MExN): The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) undertook a series of measures in July 2025 aimed at enhancing customer satisfaction and boosting freight revenue, with a focus on strengthening logistics, ensuring seamless cargo movement and supporting regional agricultural and industrial supply chains.

As part of these efforts, Salchapra station under the Lumding Division was opened for LOLO (Lift-On Lift-Off) container operations with effect from July 15. NFR said the move would help meet growing logistics demands in the region.

Under its Business Development Unit (BDU) initiative, the railway recorded significant freight movement during the month. A total of 1,154 wagons of stone chips were booked under Lumding Division from various locations: 252 wagons from Shokhuvi to Jirania, Ambassa, Belonia and Bairabi; 84 wagons from Bihara to Jirania and Belonia; 672 wagons from Ditokcherra to Jirania; 63 wagons from Mendipathar to Jirania; 61 wagons from Bairabi to Jirania; and 22 wagons from Salchapra to Jirania. The operation ensured a steady supply of construction materials and contributed significantly to freight revenue, it said.

In addition, 27 rakes of maize were loaded from stations under Katihar Division, including Purnia (8 rakes), Arariya (6), Ranipatra (1), Jalalgarh (3), Dalkolha (7), Forbesganj (1) and Bathnaha (1). Further, 0.5 rake (25 wagons) of rice was loaded from Tufanganj and dispatched to Jirania.
