Dimapur/ Maligoan, June 15 (MExN): Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has announced the extension of train services in South Tripura and Jorhat district of Assam.
For Tripura, train no. 13173/13174 (Sealdah – Agartala – Sealdah) Kanchanjungha Express will run from Agartala to Sabroom. In Assam, train no. 15769/15770 (Alipurduar Junciton – Lumding – Alipurduar Junction) Intercity Express will run from Lumding to Mariani. The extension of these trains will be effective from June 16.
According to NFR’s Chief PRO, Kanchanjungha Express will depart from Sealdah at 06:50 AM from June 16, every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday to reach Sabroom at 8:00 PM on every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Monday respectively. On the return journey the train will depart from Sabroom at 06:20 AM from June 18, every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday to reach Sealdah at 7:20 PM on every Wednesday, Friday, Sunday and Monday respectively. “With this extension, passengers from the Southern most areas of Tripura will get direct connectivity to Kolkata,” the PRO stated.
The Intercity Express will depart from Alipurduar Jn at 03:45 AM from June 16 on daily basis to reach Mariani at 8:00 PM on the same day. Similarly, train no. 15770 will depart from Mariani at 09:15 AM from June 17, on daily basis to reach Alipurduar Jn. at 12:50 AM the next day. This extension will further strengthen the existing rail connectivity of the Upper Assam areas with North Bengal.
Details of stoppages and timings of these trains are available at IRCTC website, NTES and are also being notified in social media handles of NFRailway. Passengers are requested to verify the details before undertaking their journey.
Cancellation &Rescheduling of trains in Lumding– Badarpur Hill Section
Meanwhile, the authorities have also informed that it has cancelled and rescheduled few trains operating in the Dima – Hasao areas of Lumding – Badarpur hill section. This is owing to the Meteorological department issuing red alert for next two days related to incessant rain in that area.
Cancellation of trains:
• Train no. 15617 (Guwahati - Dullabcherra) Express, train no. 15611 (Rangiya – Silchar) Express and train no. 15641 (Silchar – New Tinsukia) Express commencing journey on June 15.
• Train no. 15615/15616 (Guwahati – Silchar - Guwahati) Express, train no. 15618 (Dullabcherra - Guwahati) Express, train no. 15612 (Silchar – Rangiya) Express and train no. 15642 (New Tinsukia - Silchar) Express commencing journey on 16th June, 2024
Rescheduling of train:
• Train no. 15626 (Agartala – Deoghar) Express commencing journey on June 15 has been rescheduled to start at 11:30 PM instead of 7:00 PM.
The Chief PRO mentioned that situation is being monitored 24 x 7 by the railway authorities. Appropriate decisions will be taken keeping in view the safety of train passengers.
