Maligaon, January 27 (MExN): Northeast Frontier Railway celebrated the 74th Republic Day at NFRSA complex at Maligaon, where Anshul Gupta, General Manager, NFR unfurled the National Flag. He also inspected march-past by contingents of RPF, Territorial Army, Civil Defence, and Bharat Scouts & Guides.
The Republic Day was also celebrated in all the five Divisions of NFR viz. Tinsukia, Lumding, Rangiya, Alipurduar and Katihar, where the Divisional Railway Managers unfurled the National Flag in presence of Divisional railway officials.
On the occasion, he laid foundation stone of a new 25 Bedded RPF Ladies Barrack at RPF Barrack, Maligaon and inaugurated new facilities at the Central Hospital, Maligaon for the benefits of the patients.
The General Manager while addressing the gathering briefed about the performance of NFR achieved in the last few months.
He mentioned about improving intrastate rail connectivity by introduction of Vistadome train services connecting three states Assam, Tripura and Manipur which was inaugurated by President of India on October 13, 2022. Introduction of direct train services connecting Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland via Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland via Assam was also mentioned. He mentioned about the introduction of Vande Bharat Express which was flagged off by Prime Minister of India on December 30, 2022 running between Howrah to New Jalpaiguri.
Total earnings of NF Railway during the period from April to December, 2022 was Rs 5500 crore which is 25% higher than the corresponding period of last year. Loading of goods increased by 21% and nearly 1800 crore were generated as passenger revenue during the period from April to December, 2022.
Rozgar Mela which was held at NFR headquarters for the first time was a grand success. Total 698 new recruits were appointed through RRB, RRC and CGA by NFR during Rozgar Mela held in the month of October, November/2022 and January/2023.
For improvement of safety & operational efficiency, 21 stations have been provided with the electronic interlocking system, 16 manned level crossing gates were eliminated and 7 Road Over Bridges constructed during last nine months. 334.05 kms of Rail Renewal and 126.43 kms of Sleeper Renewal were also completed during the period. He highlighted about the uses of AI based Elephant Protection System that has been launched first time in the world to prevent train elephant collision.
In his speech the General Manager specially mentioned about the sports persons of NFR in bringing laurels at the National/International level continuously. He mentioned about the achievement of NF Railway sportsperson Bhagyabati Kachari, who represented Indian Boxing team and won medals. He also mentioned about the achievements of Cyclist, Boxers and Weightlifters of NFR who won medals at various National & Inter Railway tournaments.
Members of NF Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation distributed essential items amongst admitted patients at the Central Hospital located at Maligaon. This was stated in a press release issued by Sabyasachi De, Chief Public Relations Officer, NFR.
