Maligaon, November 25 (MExN): Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has been organising a series free eye screening camps in association with Sri Sankardeva Nethralaya, Guwahati as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebration. 
The camps are open to public.
A total of 231 people availed the services during the camp organised at North Lakhimpur and Dhemaji Railway Stations on November 23 and 24 respectively. Several AB-PMJAY (Ayushman Bharat - Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana) beneficiaries who attended the camps were advised surgery. Families under BPL category were made aware of availability of free cashless surgery under AB-PMJAY scheme in Central Hospital, Maligaon and Sri Sankardeva Nethralaya, Guwahati.
According to Guneet Kaur, Chief Public Relations Officer, NFR, persons with eye-ailments were given due preference for eye-screening. Persons suspected or diagnosed with eye-aliments such as cataract, glaucoma, pterygium, diabetic retinopathy etc were counselled.
Earlier, on November 8, free eye screening camp was organised by Central Hospital of Northeast Frontier Railway, Maligaon in association with Sri Sankaradeva Nethralaya, Guwahati at Headquarters Health Unit premises.
