Maligaon, September 4 (MExN): The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has registered an 8.69% growth in freight unloading in August 2025 compared to the same month last year.

A total of 1113 freight-carrying rakes were unloaded during the month, an official release informed.

Out of this, 624 rakes were unloaded in Assam, including 282 carrying essential commodities. The  unloading of rakes in other North-East States were Tripura – 174 rakes, Nagaland – 14, Arunachal Pradesh – 8, Manipur – 34, Meghalaya – 6, and Mizoram – 24.

In addition, 380 rakes were unloaded in West Bengal and 316 in Bihar, consisting of both essential and non-essential commodities within the NFR jurisdiction.

The uninterrupted supply of commodities continues to play a vital role in sustaining daily life and economic activity in the region, the release said.

The speedy completion of doubling projects in key sections has enhanced freight movement, contributing to the steady rise in unloading across the zone, it added.
