NFR RPF apprehends 47 illegal migrants

Maligaon, July 28 (MExN): The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway continues its crackdown on illegal migrants, apprehending 47 individuals during routine checks in June 2024. 

Among those detained were 47 illegal migrants and five Indian agents. The RPF's vigilant efforts also led to the detention of 41 more illegal migrants by July 23.

On July 2, the RPF team at Agartala Railway Station conducted a routine drive, discovering 11 individuals of dubious nationality (nine females and two males). 

Upon interrogation, these individuals were unable to produce valid documents and later confessed to having illegally entered India from Bangladesh. Another incident on July 23, saw the detention of four Bangladeshi nationals at Agartala station, who were planning to travel to Kolkata by train. 

All the detained illegal migrants were handed over to the Government Railway Police at Agartala for further legal action.  Additional detentions were reported from Badarpur and New Jalpaiguri stations during regular RPF checks.
