NFR takes initiatives for better customer interface and freight transportation

Guwahati, December 29 (MExN): The Northeast Frontier Railway has taken several initiatives during the month of November aimed at improving the freight transportation and providing better customer interface, an official release informed today. 

The initiatives include opening of goods traffic handling facility, introduction of Debit/Credit facility at more stations etc, stated the press release from  NFR Chief Public Relations Officer, Guneet Kaur.

Among others, to improve customer interface and further augment freight transportation, Ghograpar railway station has been opened for handling of inward automobile traffic until further notice on November 2, while Jalalgarh station has also been opened for handling of Steel Pipe Consignment (Crane Consignment) until further order from November 9. 

An addition, the New Mal Junction has been opened for handling of both outward and inward goods traffic except Coal, POL, Live Stock, Explosive and Crane Consignment until further advice from November 9, the release said,  Earlier, it was opened for handling of both outward and inward RMC (Ballast) traffic until further advice.

The New Bongaigaon railway station was opened for inward Iron and Steel consignment (Crane Consignment) as an experimental basis for a period of 3 months with effect from July 22 has been extended till February 28, 2022, it informed. 

Likewise, Lanka railway station has been opened for handling of inward Iron and Steel Consignment (Crane Consignment) until further advice on November 22 while handling of outward Boulder traffic at New Haflong has been extended until further advice, it added. 

Moreover, Debit/Credit facility for demurrage has been introduced in another five terminals for better turn round of wagons during the month of November and at present, a total 29 location/siding/customer are availing this scheme, the release added.
