DIMAPUR, AUGUST 13 (MExN): Along with the rest of the country, Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) will also observe the Partition Horrors Remembrance Day as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. Many prominent railway stations have been selected to commemorate 75 years of India’s Independence covering all the major districts of five divisions under the jurisdiction of NF Railway.
NFR Chief Public Relations Officer informed in a press statement that exhibition stalls and hoardings displaying photographs of the pain undergone by Indians due to the partition of India in 1947 will be set up for view of the common people. Different programmes will be organised at the stations on this day showcasing the tragedy of partition with participation of freedom fighters and their kins.
Some of the stations where exhibitions are being organised are Katihar, Maldah Court, Samsi, Kishanganj, New Jalpaiguri, SiliguriJn, AlipurduarJn, New Alipurduar, New Coochbehar, Falakata, New Mal Jn, Kokrajhar, Rangiya Jn, Barpeta Road, New Bongaigaon Jn, Goalpara, Rangapara North, North Lakhimpur, Naharlagun, Guwahati, Lumding, Silchar, Agartala, Dimapur, Furketing, Golaghat, Jorhat Town, MarianiJn, Bhojo, Moranhat, SimaluguriJn, Sibsagar Town, Duliajan, Dibrugarh, Margherita, Ledo, Tinsukia Jn and New Tinsukia. In addition to this, an exhibition has also been organised at the Tindharia workshop of the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (an UNESCO World Heritage site).
