Maligaon, July 19 (MExN): The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) will temporarily cancel, divert, reschedule and regulate several trains later this month to facilitate the commissioning of a Multi Section Digital Axle Counter (MSDAC) at the New Jalpaiguri yard under the Katihar Division.
The commissioning of the advanced signalling system is scheduled from July 26 to 28 and is aimed at enhancing train detection, improving operational safety and ensuring smoother movement of trains through one of the region's busiest railway yards, the NFR said in a statement.
As part of the arrangements, Train No. 55749/55750 New Jalpaiguri-Haldibari-New Jalpaiguri Passenger, scheduled to commence its journey on July 28, will remain cancelled.
The Howrah-New Jalpaiguri Vande Bharat Express (Train No. 22301) on July 28 will be short-terminated at Kishanganj, resulting in the cancellation of its service between Kishanganj and New Jalpaiguri. The return service, Train No. 22302 New Jalpaiguri-Howrah Vande Bharat Express, will originate from Kishanganj the same day, with the New Jalpaiguri-Kishanganj section remaining cancelled.
Three trains will also be rescheduled. Train No. 14037 Silchar-New Delhi Express, departing on July 27, will leave Silchar at 9.10 pm instead of 7.10 pm. Train No. 12510 Guwahati-SMVT Bengaluru Express, scheduled for July 28, will depart Guwahati at 7.45 am instead of 6.15 am, while Train No. 13142 New Alipurduar-Sealdah Express will leave at 12.50 pm instead of 11.50 am.
The NFR said Rajdhani and Tejas Rajdhani services will also be diverted on July 27. Train Nos. 20504 and 12424 New Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express, Train Nos. 20505 and 12423 Dibrugarh-New Delhi Rajdhani Express, and Train No. 20501 Agartala-Anand Vihar Terminal Tejas Rajdhani Express will run via Aluabari Road-Thakurganj-Siliguri-Gulma, bypassing New Jalpaiguri and making a temporary halt at Siliguri Junction.
Train No. 15631 Barmer-Guwahati Express, commencing its journey on July 26, may be regulated by around 60 minutes.
The railway advised passengers to check the revised timings and stoppages on the IRCTC website and through official railway notifications before undertaking their journey.
