NFR to set up more Gati Shakti Multi Cargo Terminal

Maligaon, July 26 (MExN): NF Railway is planning to set up Gati Shakti Multi Cargo Terminal at Sairang (Mizoram), Sabroom (Tripura) and Sekerkote (Tripura) under Lumding division. 

Under the jurisdiction of NF Railway, two numbers of Gati Shakti Multi Cargo Terminal have been commissioned each at Moinarband under Lumding division and Cinnamara under Tinsukia division on March 29 and August 5, 2022 respectively. 

Works are in progress for Gati Shakti Multi Cargo Terminal at Deotala, Balurghat, Bathnaha under Katihar division, Basugaon under Alipurduar division, Jogighopa, Baihata under Rangiya division. 

It may be mentioned that to achieve the goals set out in PM Gati Shakti framework, a master circular on “Policy for Management of Railway land” which includes provisions for leasing of railway land for cargo related activities, public infrastructure, railway exclusives use, etc. has been issued on October 4, 2022. 

Railway land can be leased for cargo related projects/facilities for period up to 35 years at annual lease charges of 1.5% of market value of land by transparent methods of competitive bidding. The revised railway land management policies will enable integrated development of infrastructure. 

A master circular related to development of Gati Shakti Multi-Modal Cargo Terminals Railway has been issued on December 6, 2022. 

Commissioning of the Gati Shakti Multi Cargo Terminals will make the cargo handling and transportation by using roadways, waterways and railways much faster and in an efficient and cost-effective manner. This was stated in a press release issued by Sabyasachi De, Chief Public Relations Officer, NFR.
