NFR’s fortnight-long Swachhata Pakhwada campaign culminates

Guwahati, October 2 (MExN): The Northeast Frontier Raiwaly (NFR) fortnight-long Swachhata Pakhwada campaign, inaugurated with the administration of the “Swachhata Shapath”  pledge on  September 16, culminated on October 2. 

On the occasion of 153rd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on October 2, a major Swachhata Abhiyan was undertaken near Guwahati Railway Station led by NFR General Manager Anshul Gupta along with senior officials and staffs.

It was followed by a tree plantation drive involving the local children, a press release from NFR CPRO Sabyasachi De informed. 
Nukkad Natak, floral tribute to Gandhiji’s portrait and bhajan programmes were also held at the premises of the station, it said. 

To mark the occasion, similar programmes were also organised at platforms, station premises, circulating area of various railway stations, hospital premises etc across five divisions of NFR.

As per the release, the Indian Railways on September 16 launched the fortnight-long campaign in accordance with Prime Minister’s clarion call of “Swachh Bharat Mission.’’

From the first day, various cleanliness activities were organised at railway colonies, work places and station premises to spread up awareness amongst railway employees, family members and passengers, it said.

It included sensitising people about observing of proper hygiene, encourage desisting from open defecation and keeping the stations and railway tracks clean.

Emphases were given on Swachch Awareness, Swachch Samwad, Swachch Stations, Swachch Railgaadi, Swachch Parisar, Swachch Ahar, Swachch Neer & Swachch Prasadhan during the campaign, it added. 

Swachhata Seminars and awareness camps were held at all the five divisions under NFR while Nukkad Nataks were organised at various locations.
