Members of the Nagaland Govt. Registered Class-I Contractors’ Union (NGRC-I CU) seen here after its executive meeting held on 21st August at Kohima
DIMAPUR, AUGUST 23 (MExN): The Nagaland Govt. Registered Class-I Contractors’ Union(NGRC-I CU) in its executive meeting held on 21st August, 2011, deliberately discussed at length on the entire issue of the award of work contract “Two laning of Longleng-Changtongya road, Mon-Tamlu-Merangkong road, Phek-Pfütsero road and Zunheboto-Chakhabama road in the state of Nagaland under Phase ‘A’ of SARDP-NE awarded to Gayatri Infrastructure Ltd & Maytas(ILFS) and has resolved to take up the issue with the higher competent authority. This was stated in a press note issued by L. Pukhato Shohe, General Secretary and K.C. Angami, President of NGRC-I CU.
In its earlier meeting held at Hotel Japfü, Kohima on 21st July, 2010, the Union had resolved to support any globally capable contracting firms to come into our State and work with their full capacity and with the highest of professional integrity for the developmental works of our State. However, in the event of such global firms requiring subletting of works, first preferences should be given to local competent contractors of Nagaland.
However, in the past few months, the method adopted by the contracting firm is that, the principle contracting firm Gayatri and Maytas(ILFS) have sublet the entire work fully to M/s RATNA infrastructure Projects Pvt Ltd headed by its Chairman-cum-Managing Director Mr. M.M.L. Narasimham. Now M/s RATNA has further resorted to subletting the works at the lowest rates possible to other contractors in the state, thereby fleecing almost all the major part of the fund in the state of Nagaland. M/s RATNA Infrastructure Projects Pvt. Ltd operating as sub-contractors has already acquired land and houses through P.S. Reddy, Project Manager of M/s RATNA.
What is not understandable to the local masses comprising of even Government officials and citizens of our state is that, the entire arrangement made by M/s. Gayatri and Maytas(ILFS) in the present contracting situation is to extract maximum possible funds out of the given projects by not utilizing them into the actual construction work but leaving only the scraps of the project for local labourers, workers including sub-contractors to do up their dirty job, the press note stated.
Therefore, the Nagaland Govt. Registered Class-I Contractors’ Union informed all the citizens of the state to refrain from taking part in the work of M/s Gayatri & Maytas who have forcefully entered the contracting scenario of our state with ill intentions to exploit the citizens of our state. It also ask all the contractors who have become victims of this arrangement and nefarious activities of the so called Global Firms i.e M/s Gayatri infrastructure Ltd and Maytas(ILFS) whose global face is Mr. M.M.L. Narasimham Chairman-cum-Managing Director of M/s RATNA infrastructure Pvt. Ltd and to bring its problem and grievances to the Nagaland Govt. Registered Class-I Contractors’ Union for immediate redressal as the Union is taking up the issue with the concerned authorities of the country since this global firm has come to fleece and exploit our poor state.
It stated that it was “now well known that the concerned PWD Nagaland officials have given all the upper hand to the two companies and to victimize the local contractors and local citizens for their own nefarious activities”. The Union has unanimously decided to investigate into the credential and records of M/s Gayatri and Maytas infrastructure Ltd and M/s RATNA infrastructure Projects Pvt Ltd and at the same time hereby inform the Chairman of both Gayatri & Maytas to come to the NGRC-I CU office at Kohima in person and explain to the Union as to why it is trying to evade coming to Nagaland and instead has sent a slippery middleman Mr. M.M.L. Narasimham of RATNA to do all its dirty job in the state. The Nagaland Govt. Registered Class-I Contractors’ Union (NGRC-I CU) represents the entire class-I contractors fraternity of the state of Nagaland and is responsible to protect the interest of its citizens particularly in matters relating to infrastructural development.
