Kohima, July 25 (MExN): The Kohima district administration has announced a day-long closure of a stretch of National Highway-2 on July 26 to facilitate road restoration work near Chiechama village.
In an order, District Magistrate B. Henok Buchem said the affected section at Chainage 33+300 km on the Kohima-Botsa stretch of NH-2, near Seven Sisters Hotel, Chiechama, will remain closed from 6 am to 6 pm on July 26 in the interest of public safety and to ensure smooth execution of the restoration work.
Movement of heavy vehicles will remain suspended during the closure period, the order said.
The administration has notified alternative routes for light motor vehicles (LMVs).
Vehicles travelling from Kohima towards Tseminyu and Wokha have been advised to take a diversion at Chiechama (KM 33+115), proceed towards Botsa and rejoin NH-2 at Botsa.
Similarly, vehicles travelling towards Kohima from Wokha and Tseminyu have been directed to divert at Botsa (KM 37+100), proceed via Teichuma-Zhadima and rejoin NH-2 at KM 16+150.
