Niropen Yankho Eloe Ekhüng, the women’s organisation of Niropen Colony, celebrated its Silver Jubilee under the theme “Lead in Truth” at the Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Wokha on July 25.
Ward-15 Wokha Town Councillor Hapenthung Ezung attended the programme as the special guest, while Thungbeni Ngullie, President of Lotha Eloe Hoho, delivered the keynote address.
Referring to the jubilee theme, Ezung said ‘truth and integrity should remain the foundation of leadership and community service.’ He encouraged members to continue serving with sincerity, humility and compassion while inspiring the younger generation through their actions. He also urged the women to remain united, support one another and continue contributing towards the welfare and development of the community.
Ngullie encouraged everyone to appreciate the hard work of those striving to bring positive change to society. She observed that many people hesitate to speak the truth because it is often bitter and difficult to accept. However, she emphasised that an honest person is always respected, trusted and valued, adding that truth strengthens relationships, builds credibility and forms the foundation of strong families and communities.
Speaking against various social ills, she urged people to remain truthful in both words and actions and to refrain from engaging in activities that would bring shame or force them to hide from society. Instead, she encouraged everyone to live according to the principles of truth, integrity and accountability.
Highlighting the importance of financial literacy, particularly for women, Ngullie said ‘women should not only know how to manage household responsibilities but also understand financial planning, savings, investments and informed decision-making.’ She said financially empowered women are better equipped to strengthen their families, contribute to their communities and play a leading role in building a better society.
The programme began with a silent prayer in remembrance of departed members, followed by an invocation by Orensali Humtsoe. Zuchano C Ezung delivered the welcome address, while Renchumi E Ezung highlighted the formation of organisation.
Greetings were conveyed by N Samuel Ezung on behalf of the Niropen Council. A prayer for God’s blessings was led by Stephen Nyanthung Ezung, Catechist of St Peter’s Campus Church.
The special guest also released the 25th Silver Jubilee Souvenir. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Z Teresa Ezung.
