Niuland, July 29 (MExN): The District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) of Niuland, chaired by Deputy Commissioner and Vice-Chairman T L Kiusumong Tikhir, on July 28 approved a compulsory Rs 5,000 contribution from all Head of Departments (HoDs) to fund the ceiling repair of the Multipurpose Hall cum Auditorium at GHS Aqhunag. The board also cleared a proposal for the Nitozu-Pihekhu Road (6 km) for departmental examination.
Reviewing the previous meeting’s minutes, the Board deliberated on pressing infrastructure issues, including the auditorium’s dilapidated ceiling and persistent road and bridge connectivity problems in the Aghunaqa area, stated a DIPR report.
To address these, the Board mandated the contribution, with members permitted to donate more than the stipulated amount. EAC Aghunaqa, Border Magistrate, has been tasked with collecting the funds, and all HoDs have been directed to complete payment by August 15, 2026. The Board further insisted that a detailed utilisation report and work update be placed before the next DPDB meeting.
On road connectivity, PWD (R&B), Dimapur Division, presented a comprehensive overview of roads under Niuland district, current connectivity status of other district and village roads, and challenges posed by soil erosion. After deliberation, the Board approved the Nitozu-Pihekhu Road proposal, along with its Concept Note and Detailed Project Report (DPR), forwarding it to the concerned department for examination.
