Niuland EBRC conducts community mobilization, training for 73 Schools

NIULAND, MARCH 26 (MExN): A one-day block-level community mobilization, training, and sensitization program for School Management Committees (SMC) and School Management and Development Committees (SMDC) was conducted today at Lhomithi Hall, WSH building, Chekiye village, Chümoukedima. Organized by the EBRC Niuland, the event saw enthusiastic participation from 73 schools, each represented by their chairperson, secretary, and parent representative.

The program was chaired by Dr Amihe Swu, TOT, EBRC Niuland, who set the stage for the day’s discussions. Kitoshi Z Swu, SDEO, Niuland delivered the welcome address, emphasizing the importance and urgent necessity of active community involvement in the education sector.

In her keynote address, Additional Director, DoSE, Erali Swu highlighted the various government initiatives and the role of SMCs and SMDCs in ensuring quality education at the grassroots level. She also emphatically encouraged the necessity for solution-finding within the community for the sake of students; citing examples from her own experiences to motivate the attendees. Erali contextualized the importance of community participation and ownership in Naga society to mitigate the over-dependence on government intervention which has been hindering the progress of government schools.

A series of informative presentations were conducted by representatives from the DoSE, Samagra Shiksha, and NECTAR P3, focusing on improving school governance, enhancing parental involvement, and utilizing available resources effectively.
