New Delhi, October 5 (MExN): Sharingain Longkumer, the Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, called on Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla in New Delhi on October 4.

During the meeting, the two leaders discussed several important matters concerning the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) India Region Zone-III and the North East Regional Parliamentary Studies, Training and Research Centre, a statement said.

Longkumer apprised Birla of the preparations for the forthcoming Plenary Conference of the CPA India Region Zone-III, scheduled to be held in Kohima in November 2025.

The Lok Sabha Speaker expressed his keen desire to visit Nagaland and assured his presence and support for the upcoming conference, the statement said.

Birla conveyed his hope that Speakers and legislators from the North Eastern states would effectively use the platform to deliberate on pertinent policy matters and regional issues that require examination and review by the Centre.

He congratulated the Nagaland Legislative Assembly for taking the initiative to host the Plenary Conference after many years and extended his best wishes for its successful conduct.
