Dimapur, September 18 (MExN): Affirming its stand, the Naga National Council (Non-Accordist) has stated that it is the only Naga Political institution mandated by the people to shoulder the political struggle of the Nagas for self determination and the fight for our right has gone on far more than 60 years. This was stated in a press note issued by K. Sumi for MIP. However, it also stated: “In the process of our struggle the occupying agency sowed the seed for division and mistrust in the Naga Family as a result of which the NNC was fractured and many Naga political groups sprouted up. In spite of all these hurdles and shortcomings the NNC (NA) under the leadership of Z. Hozheto Chophy and Kiumakum Yim has never wavered in our stance to resolve the Naga issue honourably NNC was in existence, is existing and will be in existence till an honourable solution to the Naga problem is reached at.”
The NNC (N.A) in the note further said that it highly appreciates the reconciliation process that is taking place in the “Naga family” and the yeoman service rendered by the FNR is highly commendable. But at the same time the NNC (NA) asked the FNR to be inclusive in their approach and accommodate all Naga groups. Only then can the true spirit of reconciliation process wherein leaders of three groups pledged to accept each other, cracks are showing up even before the ink on paper which they have signed has not dried up. The FNR should be very bold straight forward and honest in their approach least their efforts turn futile.
It has also warned the GIO not to commit the mistake of their later leader Jawaharlal Nehru then Prime mister of India who did not properly analyze the Naga issue and took it as a law and order problem and the issue stands as it is today. The GOI should take into confidence all Naga political groups because a small spark left unattended to could become a deadly inferno. The GOI should not ignore or undermine the NNC which is a legitimate Naga political institution. “All Naga political historical events took place under the banner of the NNC (NA) under the leadership of Z. Hozheto Chophy and Kiumakum Yim will strive till the last in realizing an honorable solution to the Nag issue and called upon the Nags to extend their cooperation and strengthen the NNC (NA)”, it stated.
