
Dimapur, June 23 (MExN): Naga National Council (NNC) Vice President, L Kaiso has passed away in Kohima on June 22 evening. A nonagenarian, L Kaiso was born in 1929 and joined National Service in 1964.
A condolence message from Gen (Retd) Viyalie Metha, Kedahge, Federal Government of Nagaland stated that L Kaiso steadfastly served the Nation in various capacities. He was appointed as Under-Secretary of Alee (Foreign) Affairs, FGN in 1964; Nominated as a Tatar in 1965; Inducted as Lota Kilonser in 1972; Inducted as Killo Kilonser, FGN in 1977; Entrusted as a Joint Secretary, NNC in 1990; Elected as Kedallo in 2005; Entrusted as Secretary, NNC in 2010; Entrusted as Vice President, NNC in 2015 to date; He was a recipient of 'NAGALAND STAR' (Highest Award of the Naga Nation).
“He was a true patriot. He faithfully served the Nation till his last breath. His sudden demise was a great vacuum for the Nation. Yet his true sacrifice and valuable services rendered to the Nation shall always remain alive in the annals of the Nation,” Gen (Retd) Viyalie Metha stated while conveying condolences to the bereaved family members, relatives and dear ones.
Meanwhile, W Shapwon, Secretary, Naga National Council said that L Kaiso has dedicated his whole life in defending the birthright of the Naga people as an independent nation.
He steadfastly upheld the Naga national Principle enunciated by the Declaration of Independence in 1947 and the Plebiscite of 1951 even when Nagaland seriously faced ups and downs in political situations during his life times.
His unwavering stand for the right cause of the Naga nation up to his last breath will forever remain in history as a good example for young people in generations to come.
“When I had been working with him from 1996 to 2009 staying together at Transit Peace Camp, Kohima, Nagaland, he gave me much encouragement to write in book about what had happened in Eastern Nagaland for the records of history, because many people don’t know it. And also takes time, he had been correcting my English. I ever remain grateful to him,” Shapwon stated.
“I share my heartfelt deep sorrow with his sons and daughters, and relatives, and pray that may God grant solace and comfort in this hour of solitude, and that the soul of departed leader rests in peace in his eternal abode in the hands of our Lord Jesus Christ,” he added.
