No illegal recruitment: Mizoram Education minister rebuts allegation

Mizoram Education minister, Lalchhandama Ralte on Monday rebutted the allegation leveled by Congress party over recruitment of 91 employees under School Education department.

 

Speaking on the occasion of Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP) Raising Day on Monday, Ralte said there was no illegal recruitment as it was done as per recruitment rules. He also said that the government has recently recruited a number of employees under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abjhiyan (RMSA) as per the recruitment rules made by the erstwhile Congress government to fill vacant posts. He added that 881 teachers were being filled up recently to meet acute shortage of teachers in the state.

 

Earlier, opposition Congress party had alleged that 91 employees were recruited by the state government headed by Zoramthanga under School Education department without floating advertisement. Of these, 36 were recruited under SSA and 55 under RMSA respectively, the Congress party had said.

 

Quoting RTI, Congress media cell chairman and party spokesperson, Lallianchhunga had said that as many as 36 employees have been recruited under SSA mission during 10 months from December, 2018 to September 2019. The recruitment was made without floating advertisement due to absence of proper recruitment rules, he said, adding that the government will spend Rs 1.05 crore annually for the new employees. The Congress leader had also alleged that the state government recruited 87 employees under RMSA mission during 10 months from December, 2018 to September, 2019, of which 55 were without advertisement. The government will spend Rs 1.78 crore per year for 55 employees, he had said.

 

He had also alleged that majority of employees were illegally recruited on the instruction of the Education minister.

 

Branded as Pupils or Students’ Day (Zirlaite Ni), Mizoram apex student body MZP on Monday celebrated its Raising Day at Dawrpui multipurpose hall here.

 

Ralte who graced the event said that the government will take steps to ensure that Students’ Day is observed by all schools across the state from next year. He also exhorted the students to strive forward with hard work and clear resolution to become leaders in the near future.

 

MZP president, L. Ramdinliana Renthlei thanked the state government for declaring October 27 as ‘Students’ Day. He said that the student body has been observing its Raising Day as Students’ Day since 2006.
