Dimapur, June 12 (MExN): The Dimapur Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) has announced non-cooperation against the Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU), directing all affiliated members and the business community under its jurisdiction “not to entertain any form of donation requests, summons, or information-seeking activities initiated” by the student body.
The directive follows a joint resolution adopted on June 3, 2026, by the DCCI, Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation (DUCCF) and GB Union Dimapur Sadar (GBUDS), stated a press release issued by Media Cell, DCCI.
In the event of any such instance, the DCCI has asked its affiliated members and the business community to immediately report the matter to its Grievances Cell or to any office bearers of the organisation.
The DCCI has also requested DUCCF and GBUDS to disseminate information regarding the “the non-cooperation movement against the DNSU among the business community and the general public within their respective colonies and jurisdictions.”
Issuing a statement against the DNSU’s practice of shutting down business establishments, the DCCI said the “random act of closing down a business establishment by a student body is totally uncalled for and must be criticised by all.”
“While DCCI does not support its members doing illegal businesses,” the chamber said, adding that unilateral action by student organisations against traders was not acceptable.
The DCCI, however, clarified that it was not opposed to accountability in trade practices. It urged members of the public, unions and student organisations to report any discrepancies, malpractices, or unfair trade practices involving the business community to the “relevant and concerned authorities” rather than taking matters into their own hands.
Reiterating its commitment to the rule of law, the DCCI stated that “no individual or organisation should take the law into their own hands, as no one is above the law.”
