‘No one is safe where illicit drugs take control’

Dimapur, July 10 (MExN): As a joint venture between N-NAGA-DAO of Mokokchung unit and Mokokchung Users Network, International Day against Drug Abuse & Illicit Trafficking 2011 was observed in Mokokchung town on June 26 with two youth departments, namely Artang and Kumlong CYE.
Highlights of the day included a debating session on the topic “Health is more important that drugs” and a testimony by a member from Mokokchung User’s Network, a press note stated.
“In its whole the observance of the day serves as an awakening call to all the youngsters that no individual, family or community is safe where illicit drugs take control. Drugs destroy lives and communities, undermine sustainable human development and generate crimes. Drugs affect all sectors of society; in particular, the young people. As such, the International Day against Drug Abuse & Illicit trafficking provided the perfect platform among the youths to strengthen action and cooperation to achieve the goal of an international society free of drug abuse and illicit trafficking,” the note said.
