The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) on June 13 launched a booklet on “People’s voice questionnaire” to help shape a people-centred vision for the future of Nagaland.
NPCC Working President Khriedi Theunuo announced this through a press conference in the presence of NPCC President and Lok Sabha MP S Supongmeren Jamir and NPCC general secretary (organization) Akuonuo Miachieo at Congress Bhavan Kohima.
Theunuo informed that this questionnaire exercise will be completed by the end of this month. The NPCC will compile the observations and the people’s response out of this questionnaire and it will form a road map for the party’s preparation for 2028 state election, he said.
Seeking the valuable opinion from the public, he said, “the feedback will help us in bringing out in the policy making of the party and to help us to understand the aspiration, concern and priorities of the people.”
Stating that Congress party policy and programs are for the welfare of the people, Theunuo said, “we would like to go to the people, understand what they expect the Congress party to do for the people of the state.”
In this exercise, the NPCC have already printed around 1000 booklets and the same was disbursed to the respective District Congress Committees across the state.
The NPCC stated that responses in the questionnaire exercise will remain confidential and will be used for policy planning and people’s outreach.
He sought the opinion of the people from all walks of life, be it church leaders, social activists, village leaders and all other community people to help the Congress party to come out strongly in the preparation for the 2028 state election. “A strong democracy begins when people begin to speak honestly,” he said.
‘We will not stand always on failures’
Supongmeren Jamir said that Congress party has put some questions in the booklet for the general public to share their views and observations. He viewed that every political party needs to incorporate the opinion and the aspiration of the grassroot people in the formulation of the policies and welfare programmes for the people of the state.
Stating that Congress party was not in the lawmakers for almost 23 years in Nagaland, Jamir said “We accept our failures, but we'll not stand always on the failures. We want to reach the people and we also want to serve the people.”
Jamir requested that people, especially the younger generations, to come forward and contribute their wisdom in this questionnaire exercise.
“Congress will be humble to serve the people according to the wishes of the voters and the youngsters of the state,” he said.
