NPF expresses deep concern over Khammoi village incident

Kohima, October 22 (MExN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) has expressed deep concern over a reported operation carried out by Indian security forces along the Indo–Myanmar border near Longwa village on October 20.

According to the NPF, the operation targeted the residence of a senior NSCN-K (Yung Aung) leader in Khammoi village, Myanmar.

“According to reports, several individuals lost their lives, including members of the leader’s family, while others sustained serious injuries,” the party stated in a press release from its Press Bureau.

Expressing sadness over the loss of lives and the distress caused to the affected families and communities, the NPF noted that such incidents call for careful examination to prevent further tension or misunderstandings, given the sensitivity of the border region and the close-knit ties of communities on both sides.

To this end, the party urged the authorities concerned to take due cognisance of the situation and ensure that peace, stability, and humanitarian considerations are upheld at all times.
