Dimapur, August 22 (MExN): Two day induction training was held for the newly appointed NRHM nurses on August 18 and 19 at the Conference Hall of the Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, Kohima. A total of 133 newly appointed ANMs, GNMs and PHNs were oriented on the NRHM framework, its goals and objectives, achievements and the implementation of various components under NRHM.
While interacting with the trainees on the second day, Kuzholuzo Nienu, Minister of Health & Family Welfare briefed them on the roles and responsibilities of a nurse placed at a health centre. He urged them to utilize the opportunity with a purpose and with good attitude towards the people. Menukhol John, Commissioner & Secretary, H&FW stated that the Department expects high level of commitment and sincerity from the nurses in carrying out their duties at their respective places of posting.
During the two day programme, various resource persons from the Department gave brief guidelines and orientation for carrying out various activities at the health centre. Topics such as roles and responsibilities of ASHAs, importance of VHND, ARSH & School Health Programme, National Vector Borne Control Programme, Immunization, HMIS, IDSP, IEC/BCC and NLEP were discussed at length during the induction training.
The newly appointed nurses will be posted at various levels of health units in all the 11 districts of Nagaland.
