NSACS RockAware to kick off on Sept 10

Kohima | August 19 : The NSACS RockAware-  as part of Multi Media Campaign- Red Ribbon Super Star campaign under the theme “AIDS is our problem. We care!” is slated to kick off on September 10 at Kohima.
NSACS RockAware- is a statewide band competition with the vision to use the medium of music and concerts to highlight and create awareness about HIV/AIDS and also provide a platform for the musicians to showcase their talents.
Briefing Media person at Dream Cafe here today, Gugs Chishi, project director Music Task Force informed that the RockAware band competition will take place in two levels, district and state. The district level competition will begin on September 10 at Kohima and the grand finale will be held on October 15 at DDSC Stadium, Dimapur.
It further informed all bands wanting to participate at the district level competition to submit their band names to the district event partner by September 5.
All details of contact person, venue, time and rules will be advertised in the daily newspapers. Only the winning bands from the district level competition will compete at the Grand Finale.
At the grand finale, the winners will receive a cash prize of Rs. 1 Lakh while the 1st and 2nd runners up will receive cash prizes of Rs. 60,000 and Rs. 40,000 respectively sponsored by the Legislatures of Phek. The winners of the district level competition will also receive a cash award of Rs. 20,000 each which is being sponsored by the Legislators Forum on AIDS (LFA).
There will also be prizes for individual Categories from event partners. Best Guitarist- acoustic guitar from Unitex INC, Best Vocal- A vocal mic set from Audio Garage, Best Bassist- a practice bass Combo from Crescendo, Best Drummer- a Cymbal set from Wishingwell Foundation and Dream Cafe. Along with this, an additional gift of home theater speaker set each to all the 4 winners from Neo Vision.
Commissioner and Secretary, Health & Family Welfare, Menukhol John, Project Director, NSACS, Dr. Nandira Changkija, Theja Meru, Ayieno Kechu and Thejakielie Zuyie, Life Pro were also present at the Press Conference.
