NSCN (IM) UT clarifies on arrests

Dimapur, October 10 (MExN): The Union Territory (UT) of the NSCM (IM) has issued a clarification following the arrest of who it said were two of its regional staff and two civilians by a Special Team of the Nagaland Police on October 8 in connection with the abduction of four individuals from Patna, Bihar, at Hotel New Rajasthan Palace, Dimapur.

In a release issued by the Caretaker Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Union Territory, NSCN (IM), the office confirmed that among those arrested were two regional staff members of the Union Territory—Kavito Yeptho (Tatar) and Saul Chophy (Razou Peyu)—along with two civilians identified as Kivipu Zhimo and Bento Shohe.

The statement said the two regional staff were serving under the supervision of the Caretaker CAO, UT. However, it clarified that “the unfortunate abduction/kidnapping related matter was undertaken without the knowledge/awareness of the Caretaker C.A.O, UT and the competent authority.” It stated that the act “was entirely executed on their own personal vested interest.”

Describing the incident as “a great misconduct and misuse of power to malign and tarnish the image of the GPRN,” the Office of the Union Territory said the matter had been taken seriously. It informed that a report on the two NSCN members has been forwarded to the Ministry of Kilo Affairs for trial and necessary action “as per Azha of the Yezhabo.”
