Dimapur, July 14 (MExN): The Nagaland University Teachers Association has condemned what it termed the false and serious defamatory statements on the teaching community and others made by the Registrar of Nagaland University Dr.P.H.Naik in his “shocking letter to the Secretary, MHRD dated 19th November 2010, which has been published in local dailies.
The NUTA in a press note issued by Members of Central Executive Council stated that the Registrar had submitted his resignation which was not accepted by the Executive Council and an Inquiry had been constituted against him on serious allegations of corruption. “The Inquiry Report has to be tabled before the Executive Council for their decision and till such time, the question of Dr.P.H.Naik assuming charge of Registrar again does not arise”, it stated. Further, the NUTA termed as “highly questionable” that he had joined another University in Lucknow without any clearance from the Nagaland University and while he was under an official Inquiry, which is in serious violation of service rules. The NUTA also noted that Dr P.H.Naik had stated to leaders of the Association that he had resigned due to continuous victimization and harassment by Prof.K.Kannan and not otherwise.
Therefore, the NUTA demanded a public clarification from Dr.P.H.Naik on his false allegations and defamatory statements contained in the letter to the Secretary, MHRD, within one week. The Association has resolved that in view of the serious communal innuendos and defamatory, false allegations on the different sections of the University community, and willful false projection of the north eastern region in his venomous letter, it has resolved not to allow Dr.P.H.Naik to return to this University.
The NUTA stated that necessary official communications to this effect will be made to all authorities. The NUTA also stated that Dr.P.H.Naik has a pending FIR of bribery filed against him by two members of the NUTA and another FIR filed by the President, CEC, NUTA against Dr.P.H.Naik for the false FIR filed against three teachers.
