NVCO support govt on shutdown of all check gates

DIMAPUR, JULY 9 (MExN): While extending full support to state government to shutdown all check gates, the Nagaland Voluntary Consumer's Organisation (NVCO) has expressed their sincere appreciation and hearty gratitude for the timely action in removing the menace of illegal collection of cash at the check gates and on highways.
The President of NVCO Kezhokhoto Savi in a press note has appealed to every citizen to cooperate with the direction especially the Deputy Commissioners to strictly and effectively enforce the order in their respective jurisdiction. “Despite of the Govt. standing order in banning the organisation or individual and govt. departments in the collection of cash at the check gates and on highways, most of the associations/unions/federations/municipal council & govt. departments such as police, forest, etc are continually collecting cash at the check gates and on highways and even more amount & more counter where many are having more two counters within the town like a commercial town Dimapur”, stated the press note.
Prior to this action the NVCO informed that it had submitted a representation to the state govt in the complaint against the menace of illegal collections of cash at the check gates & on highways, which causes Price-Rise in the state & the entire illegal collections are finally realised by the consumers/buyers. The representation also cited an incident that a single truck loaded of sand has to pay more than Rs.2,200/- to several illegal collectors within Dimapur & Kohima where Police was taking more than Rs.100/- in each check-gate so as the forest deptt. not less than Rs.200/- without receipt.
The NVCO has also warned the inter state check gates including Chumukedima to stop the illegal collection of cash & not to take advantage of closing other check gates assuring the state government that the organization (NVCO) would remain as the watch dog as to remove the illegal collection of cash & extortion is one prime goal and desire of the organization (NVCO).
