One more held for ferrying dressed poultry

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 10 (MExN): For the second day in a row police manning the New Field Check Gate seized dressed poultry meant for sale in Dimapur on Wednesday, August 10. Already slaughtered and defeathered the poultry (broiler), numbering fourteen was being ferried into Dimapur from Lahorijan, Karbi Anglong, Assam. The peddler was identified by police as one Md. Sultan Ali (20 years).
According to the statement of Ali, he had bought the meat from a wholesaler, whom he identified as one Raju, in Lahorijan. The wholesaler brings the birds from Bokajan and Khatkhati, he said. The meat was bought at Rs. 90 per kilogram. Ali said that he runs shop in Rail Bazaar, where he sells the dressed poultry at Rs. 130 per kilogram. West Police Station said that tests, to confirm whether the birds had any disease or was already dead before being dressed, was yet to be conducted.
