
Kohima | September 1 : The Catholic Church in Nagaland is all set to witness the Episcopal Ordination of its priest Rev. Fr. James Thoppil as the Bishop of Kohima on September 8 at Cathedral Church of Mary Help of Christians, Kohima.
Rev. Fr. Thoppil will be the third Bishop of the Diocese. Pope Benedict XVI named him to be the Bishop of the Diocese of Kohima on June 16 this year.
The Episcopal Ordination and installation of Very Rev. Fr. James Thoppil as Bishop of Kohima will be done in the presence of His Excellency Most Rev. Salvatore Pennacchio, Apostolic Nuncio to India with His Grace Most Rev. Thomas Menamparampil sdb, DD, the Archbishop of Guwahati and His Grace Most Rev. Dominic Lumom, DD the Archbishop of Imphal as the co-Consecrators.
Announcing this in a press conference here today at Kohima Press Club (KPC), the publicity committee of the ordination said that around 8000 delegates is expected to join this service including 300 outside guests.
The Service will start at 10: 00 am which will be followed by felicitation and lunch.
According to the committee, the catholic population stands at 57, 509, spread over 34 parishes and nine missions in Nagaland.
