Organisations condemn August 6 'murder' incident

Dimapur, August 8 (MExN):  Several organizations have condemned the August 6 murder incident, where one Seopi Sangtam was shot dead at Super Market area, Dimapur. The organizations have appealed to the law enforcing agency to apprehend the accused and reward befitting punishment.

ENSF
The Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) today denounced what it said is the killing of one Seopi Sangtam of Phir Ahir village near Super Market in Dimapur on August 6 by unidentified gunman.
The federation said Seopi Sangtam was a peace loving and a “morally upright citizen from eastern Nagaland”. ‘No amount of justification will suffice the crime committed on its member and cautioned that any individual, groups or section involved in committing the heinous crime shall not be tolerated and shall stand with its resolution under any circumstances until justice is delivered to eastern Naga people,” a note from the ENSF stated today.
The ENSF demands that the law enforcing agencies arrest the culprits at the earliest and award them befitting punishment. “No individuals, groups/ organizations shall bail out the culprit at any cost,” the ENSF said.

USSC
The United Sangtam Students’ Conference has also condemned the killing of Seopi Sangtam in super market by one unidentified gunman. “Such kind of cowardly acts should be strongly condemned by all right thinking citizens and organizations. It may be mentioned that the victim was an innocent public who was seeking for job after his studies. The USSC maintained that that it will leave no stone unturned to seek justice on the killing of one of its members. The victim was a morally upright person and had a good social reputation,” the organization stated in a press note issued by its president Likhumba Y. Sangtam.  The USSC earnestly appeal the concerned authorities to take up the matter and arrest the culprit at the earliest.

TSUD
The Tsadang Suro Union Dimapur (TSUD) strongly condemns the barbaric and uncivilized incident that took place on August 6, where an innocent civilian, Seopi Sangtam, of Phirahir village was shot dead by unknown miscreants at Super market, Dimapur.
A press note issued by Lemong, president TSUD and Theritsaba, general secretary stated that the union views the seriousness of the crime committed against the innocent victim, who was shot dead mercilessly, and also said that such kind of act is a threat to ongoing peace process among Naga society. It has strongly appeals the investigation agency to arrest the culprits at the earliest and award with befitting punishment.

AST
The Akehda Sangtam Larü Thsingmüjang (AST) has flayed the killing of Seopi Sangtam. The AST in a condemnation note issued by its president Lutoli and general secretary Sanenla stated that when Nagas at all levels are trying to foster in peace, unity and tranquility, it is distressing to witness further division and hatred among fellow Naga brothers. The AST has urged the law enforcing agency to immediately barest the culprit and punish as per the law of the land.

SUK
The Sangatm Union Kohima strongly condemned the cold blooded murder of Late Seopi Sangtam, Son of Yotsase of Phirahir village on 6 August at Super market area Dimapur by unidentified gunmen. A condemnation note appended by the union's president Seopi Sangtam stated the late Seopi was a completely innocent educated unemployed youth and he has no relation with any anti-social element whatsoever. The union appealed to the police to thoroughly investigate the matter and arrest the culprit immediately and bring justice to the deceased.

ASLT
The Akehda Sangtam laru Thisingmujang, Kohima Unit strongly condemned the killing of Seopi Sangtam Phir ahir village who was an innocent in all respect.
A condemnation note issued by its president Atula and general secretary Tsapongla stated that the association felt that such an act of cowardice in the practice of killing of innocent in Naga society should immediately be stopped or else every individual has got the power to do the same thing in future which may create no place for peace and thereby the association urged the Law Enforcing Agency to book the culprit at the earliest and to deal with accordingly.

TANSA
The Tenants’ Association Naga Shopping Arcade (TANSA) has condemned the murder of one Seopi Sangtam in broad daylight on August 6 at Super Market area.
The TANSA in a condemnation note issued by its president Hotoshe Awomi stated that the association appeals to all sections of the people not to indulge in such practices in its jurisdiction as it causes panic and hardship to the residents of the area. Further, the TANSA has also requested to the law enforcing agencies to be more vigilant so that this kind of incidents can be avoided in the near future.

KUD
A press note issued by Khiamniungan Union Dimapur (KUD) also condemned the daylight killing of Late Seopi Sangtam, an innocent youth by unidentified gunmen. “Shoot at sight is inappropriate in this juncture when Naga people are vying for lasting peace in the region,” stated the note issued by LL Buming, president and S.Hangchiu, general secretary respectively of KUD. Killing of such an innocent person should be condemned in all strongest term by one and all; the KUD said and also conveys condolence to the bereaved family.

DDCF
The Dimapur District Citizens Forum has condemned the murder of Chumthing a.k.a Seopi Sangtam, a youth in his prime, when society is relentlessly pursuing the agenda of peace and harmony. “Such acts of violence have no place in the society and should not be repeated. The forum also extends its heartfelt condolences to the family members of the bereaved”, stated the forum in a press note.

Naga Council
The Naga Council has condemned the Saturday killing of one innocent Sangtam youth namely Seopi Sangtam by unidentified assailant at Supermarket “without rhyme or reason”.
“We urge the Police and administration to leave no stone unturned to bring the culprit to book and award strictest punishment." The Council has conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and to the Sangtam community in general, the Naga Council stated in a press note issued by its president Savi Liegise and general secretary Ntsemo Ngullie.
 
Silent procession on August 10
 
Dimapur, August 8 (MExN): A silent protest procession will be conducted on August 10 starting from the Supermarket area in protest against the August 6 murder incident of one Seopi Sangtam. The demonstration has been organized by Sangtam People’s Forum Dimapur District.  Also, several organizations have called upon their members to take part in the procession.
Concerning the event, The Sangtam Students’ Union Dimapur (SSUD) has informed the students from its community under Dimapur district that students of class 11 and above are compulsory to take part in the procession. The students have been directed to reach Super Market by 9:30 am. It has also requested well-wishers to attend the procession.
In a separate the Naga Council has appealed all the tribal Councilors, presidents and members of various affiliated Hohos, Women Hoho, DNSU and peace loving citizens of Dimapur to kindly extend full support to the Sangtam community by joining in the silent procession to be held on August 10 at 10:00 am starting from the Supermarket area in expression of solidarity in the fight against killing and violence to urge all to maintain a peaceful atmosphere in Dimapur.
Further, in another note, the president of Eastern Nagaland People’s Union Dimapur Akam Chang has informed all the tribal units under ENPUD to gather at Super Market, Dimapur on August 10, at 9:00 am to participate in the silent procession in protest against the killing of Seopi Sangtam. It is also informed that bus service from Chumukedima to Super Market will be made available in the morning.    
Also, the president of Sangtam Union Dimapur, Kashiho Sangtam has informed all the tribal units under Eastern Nagaland People’s Union Dimapur (ENPUD) to gather at Super Market, Dimapur on August 10, at 9:00 am to participate in the  procession. In is informed that bus service from Chumukedima to Super Market will be made available in the morning.
