Organizations rally behind Azheto Zhimomi

Dimapur, October 14 (MExN): Several organizations have openly denounced the press statement issued by the NSCN Khaplang made against MLA Azheto Zhimomi wherein the former had alleged that it was “obliged to initiate corrective action on Azheto Zhimomi’s action of open defiance and abuse of the NSCN/GPRN”. The organizations which expressed concern over the press report included the Western Sumi Hoho, NPF Dimapur, Western Sumi Students Union and Dimapur Chamber of Commerce.
The Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) in a press note issued by Vikato Shikhu, general secretary and Zheshito Swu, vice president, stated that WSH shall not accept any dead threats issued by any group upon Sumi leaders without any valid or proven reasons. The Hoho stated that Azheto was not related at all to the arrest of the said Chaplee official and has never resorted to any propaganda as such against any individual or group at any point of time.
WSH in the note urged the esteemed leader of NSCN/GPRN Khaplang to verify the sequence of events and that no Naga leader should be victimized based on any misunderstanding or misconception and to exercise restraint and calm in the matter. WSH also appealed GPRN/NSCN (Unification), which reportedly arrested the said Chaplee official of the NSCN K to clarify the confusion and to release the arrested official unharmed in the spirit of reconciliation and unity amongst Naga brethren.
In another press release relating to the same incident, the Naga People’s Front(NPF) stated that “The accusation of ‘Anti-NSCN(K)’, ‘Open defiance’, ‘Waylaying and apprehending’ NSCN( K) functionary is uncalled for” since MLA Zhimomi is a peace loving citizen and totally dedicated to honourable solutions for Nagas and not a puppet of any organizations. The note issued by Shevotso, president, NPF 3 Dimapur-III A/C, stated that “The party workers, the intellectuals, prominent public leaders , electorates of 3 DMR-III  has made it clear that such irresponsible and indifferent attitude shall not be tolerated whatsoever”.
The Western Sumi Students’ Union also in a press release stated that Azheto Zhimomi, MLA is not known to WSSU as MLA but is known as one of the most respected pioneer as well as the present banker of WSSU. Daniel H.Sumi, President, WSSU and Abeto Swu, general secretary, WSSU in the press note stated that it was unfortunate that a prominent leader like him was being accused and got dragged into the controversy. WSSU urged NSCN/GPRN (K) Government to restrain from taking any action against the leader and settle the misunderstanding amicably for the larger interest of maintaining peace and common interest of the people.
The Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) has also voiced their concern in another press release and pointed out that the threat meted out to Azheto Zhimomi, MLA and Adviser, Sericulture and Cooperation and who also happens to be an advisor of the timber association, has come as a rude shock and disappointment. The DCCI fervently appealed to the authorities of the NSCN (K) to verify the facts before going to the press and that one should not be held responsible when an official of a particular group is apprehended on the road by a rival group.
Hokivi Chishi, President, DCCI, further stated in the note that “When even a mandated leader is not spared, the plight of the common man or businessmen is a matter of great concern and is seemingly disturbing”. They also requested the authority to revoke the threat issued to the MLA.
