Orgs condemn kidnapping of boy

Dimapur, September 17 (MExN): An emergency joint meeting of Naga Council, Dimapur Chamber of Commerce & Industries, Medicine Dealers’ Association, Bank Union, Women Hoho and Dimapur Sadar GB Union was held today in the office of Naga Council to discuss the kidnap of Tushar Mehra, a student of Class 9, on September 15 by miscreants.
A press note issued by the six organizations stated that the house thoroughly discussed the kidnapping incident and they unanimously resolved to condemn the kidnapping of innocent School boy Tushar Mehra and voiced for strong action and stringent punishment to perpetrators.
The house extended its place its sympathy to the family of Tushar Mehra and all who have gone through the terror of kidnapping in the last few weeks.
Also, the house decided to hold further joint meetings, when situation calls for in order to maintain close coordination among all concerned to strive against anti-social activities and to maintain a peaceful existence in Dimapur.

Concerning the same incident, a consultative meeting of leaders of various tribal and non-tribal communities of Dimapur, was held at DDCF Premises at Dimapur under the aegis of Dimapur District Citizens’ Forum from September 15 to 17.
The leaders expressed their views on the state of affairs at Dimapur and criticized in unequivocal terms the onset of extortion, kidnappings and many anti-social activities that are plaguing the society, a press note issued by the press secretary of DDCF Kamala Kanta Paul stated. “ The forum is greatly aggrieved at the latest incident of kidnapping of a class X student of Kendriya Vidyalaya,Dimapur. The DDCF request the authority to see that such incident do not recur.”
The DDCF president Hokiye Yepthomi, in his keynote address reiterated that people from various communities at Dimapur are citizens of the place and everyone must lend his strength to make Dimapur a peaceful, progressive and beautiful place to live in.
The president offered all out co-operation and help to the administration and law-enforcing agencies in tackling the various problems confronting the society.
The leaders of all the communities offered all out help and support to the DDCF in all their efforts to make Dimapur an island of peace and happiness, the note stated.
Also in a separate note, The All Nagaland Private Schools Association (ANPSA) has condemned the “uncivilized act of kidnapping an innocent child” for ransom.
If immediate steps are not taken for his release, the ANPSA community will think of taking drastic measure by closure of Schools.
“It is painful to learn that such criminality has crept into our Christian State of Nagaland,” stated a press note issued by joint secretary of ANPSA Andrew Ahoto.
Moreover, the Dimapur Bank and Insurance Coordination Committee (DBICC) has strongly condemned the kidnapping of Tushar Mehra, son of manager,Vijay Bank Dimapur.
The committee has urged upon the authorities concerned to bring the culprits to book at the earliest and secure the release of the innocent boy unharmed. DBICC also urges the police authorities to step up vigil in and around schools by deploying policemen in civvies.
Meanwhile, the committee has extended its support to the DCCI in the event of closing down business establishments in protest and close down all financial institutions as a mark of protest.
