Mon, July 23 (MExN): Minister for Health & Family Welfare, P Paiwang Konyak on Thursday visited Tizit to assess the flood affected situation.
Highlighting the challenges of the post-flood situation, the Minister assured that all possible assistance, including medicines, food, and other essential relief materials, would reach Tizit as soon as road conditions improve and accessibility is restored, stated a DIPR report.
Besides taking possible care of the displaced families, Paiwang donated food grains and financial assistance from his personal side to the worst-affected areas including Tizit Town, Lapa Lampong and Greenply area. He also assured all possible support towards relief and rehabilitation efforts.
He also appealed to all well-to-do individuals and organisations to come forward and contribute in whatever way they can to support those affected by the disaster.
Meanwhile, a coordination meeting on landslide management was held at Mon Town on July 22, led by the District Administration with local bodies. The DC briefed on road clearance, search operations for a missing person at Walo Ward, and power restoration work on the 66kv Nagnimora-Tizit Line. Advisor Wangpang Konyak attended who attended the meeting gave Rs 2 lakh to Konyak Union for emergency use, while Langsa Hill Welfare Society donated Rs 5 lakh to the relief camp.
