
DIMAPUR, AUGUST 11 (MExN): A government vehicle (Mahindra Scorpio NL 10 7371), attached to Parliamentary Secretary for Housing T. Saku Aier met with an accident on Thursday, August 11 at Duncan Basti, Dimapur. Aier was not in the vehicle. It occurred at around 9:00 pm near Shamrock hospital.
The accident happened when a car (NL 07 C 0266) approaching from Dillai side collided with the MUV. One person riding in the car suffered injuries to the head while five occupants of the MUV, including the driver escaped unhurt. According to some witnesses, who first reached the accident site, there were two occupants in the car. The second occupant of the car was nowhere to be seen after the accident while the injured was admitted to Shamrock Hospital.
The injured barely managed to utter his name as one ‘Mayangkhom’ of Naharbari village, Dimapur. His condition is stated to be critical.
According to the driver of the MUV, who identified himself as Thomas, the car was travelling at quite a high speed. As the vehicles approached, the car made an unexpected turn to the right towards a small alley. Inorder to avoid hitting the oncoming car, it swerved to the driver’s right but it was too late. The passenger sides (left) of both vehicles met resulting in the collision, the driver said.
