PCC Ao Students' Union freshers' day held

The freshers’ queen  Maoakala and freshers’ king Aosanen of the Ao Students’ Union Patkai Christian College, 2011.
 
Dimapur, August 6 (MExN):  The Ao Students’ Union of Patkai Christian College, Chumukedima held its Freshers’ day on August 6 at the Old College campus with the Editor of Tir Yimyim, K. Temjen Jamir as the main speaker for the occasion. K. Temjen Jamir encouraged the students not to be afraid of making mistakes in the process of learning but  to take it as essential part of learning in attaining  greater success in life.
“ Life is full of success and failures and as long as we live both the success and failure continue to be part of our life. We must learn from our own mistakes and make ourselves wiser every day,” he said.
Temjen also encouraged the students to identify ones own talent and interest to pursue as career so as to make our life and work interesting. ‘We must work hard to get success but unless we rightly identify our career according our own interest, it will be disappointing, because interest in work makes one hard working and sincere,’ he said.
He also challenged the students to keep themselves prepared to make a better place for the poor and needy through the power of our learning. “As we acquire greater knowledge and attain higher status in our society, we must realize that we are empowered with that knowledge to make our people free from poverty and disease. We must make their life and family condition better,” he said.
He also urged the students to be honest to themselves, disciplined and God fearing by admitting one own shortcomings and always move ahead with a willing heart to contribute for a better world. Dr. K. Tali Imchen, the advisor of the students’ union also exhorted the students and Walusangla, Lecturer offered special prayer for the students. One Opanginla spoke on behalf of the seniors in welcoming the freshers and one Aosanen spoke on behalf of the freshers. T. Ajungla Aier also spoke on behalf of the outgoings and Imlimeren Jamir pronounced vote of thanks. During the day long program, the students chose one Maokala of B.A. 1 as freshers’ queen and one Aosanen of BA 1 as freshers’ king.
