Dimapur, September 15 (MExN): The volunteers of NSS-unit of Patkai Christian College have often been reminded about the logo of the NSS ‘The Wheel’ which signifies progress, change and also implies constant activities determined for social transformation and adaptation in this dynamic world.
A press note issued by programme officer, NSS Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) Bendangnungsang stated that to realize and experience the mentioned objectives of the NSS in practical life, the NSS Unit of Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) had a unique opportunity and privilege of having a first-in-hand experience with Akum Amri and Shongne Konyak- founders of the Ebenezer Orphanage Home, Dimapur. The Ebenezer Orphanage Home was founded in the year 2005 with three children. The Orphanage has grown both in size and strength, and now accommodates 25 children who are being provided with care and love. The youngest of them is a four-year old boy, and the eldest of them is a fourteen year-old girl.
The note stated that on September 11, the NSS-Unit comprising of 46 volunteers under leadership of NSS programme officer visited the Orphanage and came to know more about the lives of the children who need love, care and guidance besides basic facilities in life. The volunteers of the NSS spent nearly two and half hours with the children and imparted necessary academic, spiritual and social guidance that children have to learn in life. The volunteers had a memorable time with the children and also with the founders of the Orphanage Home and learned a about their sacrifice and commitment for the well-being of the deprived and marginalized children.
The note further mentioned that the NSS volunteers, as part of their goodwill mission, donated a sum of Rs. 5800 to the orphanage which was collected from amongst them and students of Patkai Christian College and wished the founders and the children a happy and prosperous life.
