Friends of Society set up qualifier clash with Nchangram Lun FC
Peren, March 20 (MExN): Defending champions Lekie Mtei FC booked their place in the final of the ongoing Peren District Football League 3.0 at Astro Turf Ground, Jalukie Town on Friday.
In the qualifier, Lekie Mtei FC defeated Nchangram Lun FC in a closely contested match. Nchangram Lun FC took the lead in the 15th minute through Silubui, who headed in a cross from Maisithui following a short corner.
Lekie Mtei FC equalised soon after with a free kick from Khiuwangbo in the 19th minute before taking the lead in the 31st minute when Chidiheu capitalised on a goalkeeping error. Chidiheu added another goal two minutes later, assisted by Nsamlungbe.
Nchangram Lun FC reduced the margin in the 52nd minute through Lamsanggin, but Khiuwangbo sealed the result by converting a penalty in the 63rd minute.
Nsamlungbe of Lekie Mtei FC was adjudged the Man of the Match.
In the eliminator match, Friends of Society edged past Poilwa FC 5-4 via tie-breaker after the match ended goalless even after regulation time and extra time.
Both teams displayed high-quality football, with goalkeepers from either side making crucial saves to keep the scores level throughout the match. Lungkhun and Zumzum were shown yellow cards for misconduct during the game.
Peisuidibe of Friends of Society was named Man of the Match.
With the result, Friends of Society will face Nchangram Lun FC in the qualifier on Saturday for a place in the final. The match is scheduled to be played at 2 pm.
