Kohima, March 21 (MExN): Celebrating the unique ability of poetry to capture the creative spirit of the human mind, PenThrill Publication House observed World Poetry Day on March 21 at the Book Home, Billy Graham Road Kohima.
The event featured ten poets from Nagaland including Sofia Livimi Swu, Chonjani, Abigail Tepa, Roselyn Miachieo, Adenuo Shirat Luikham, Emisenla Jamir, Keren Rose, Agnes Tepa, T. Keditsu and Vishü Rita Krocha. Sharing their love for poetry, these poets read their original works while 4-year-old Neno Shupao also enthralled the audience with a special number.
The event was graced by a Japanese guest, Aimi Hasebe, who also read a poem in Japanese.
During the event, Publisher of PenThrill, Vishü Rita Krocha shared that the primary objective of organising the event was to create a sense of appreciation for fellow poets and celebrate their works, which is fundamental towards building a stronger literary ecosystem in the state.
She also revealed that on the occasion of World Poetry Day, two books namely “Whimsical poems for kids” and “Alphabet Poems” authored by Sofia Livimi Swu are among the list of recommendations by Parag Initiative of Tata Trusts in the category of poetry for children, by children.
Mention may be made here that Sofia Livimi Swu is the youngest published author from Nagaland and has four books to her credit having made her debut as an author at the age of seven.
PenThrill Publication House has also announced a new book project on the occasion of World Poetry Day tentatively titled, “Poetry of our times- The Homeland series”.
The collection scheduled to be launched during the 2026 World Poetry Day will feature poems from places across Nagaland exploring one's native land and the connection between the place and its people.
