Peren Government College organised a farewell programme for its vice principal, Albert, who retired after 35 years of dedicated service.

PEREN, OCTOBER 2 (MExN): Peren Government College organised a farewell programme for its Vice Principal, Albert, who retired after 35 years of dedicated service.
Albert joined the college on September 3, 1990, and was promoted to Vice Principal on August 1, 1996. Over the years, he served as teacher, Head of Department, Vice Principal and Principal-in-charge on three occasions (2016–2017, 2020 and 2023).
The farewell function was held at the college conference hall with faculty members, staff and students in attendance. Speeches on behalf of the teachers, Political Science Department, non-teaching staff and students were delivered by Heiramchube Liegise, Assistant Professor; CH Kangba Andrew, HoD; Tova; and Pausamlungbo respectively. The College Choir presented a farewell song in honour of the outgoing Vice Principal.
Principal Dr T Jamedi Longkumer, in his address, praised Albert for his unwavering commitment and sacrifices, calling him “instrumental and a backbone in the progress of the college.” He added that Albert’s legacy of professionalism, values and wisdom would continue to inspire generations.
In his farewell speech, Albert expressed gratitude to the principal, faculty, staff and students for their support. Recalling the early years of the college, he said he was elated to witness its growth and shifting to a new site before his retirement, and proud of the students’ achievements, including their ranks among the Top 10 in university examinations, which he termed “a retirement gift.”
The programme also included presentation of gifts and a citation in recognition of his service, and concluded with a hymn and prayer.
